How to Choose Baby-Friendly Restaurants for Your Baby

Choosing a restaurant to dine in when you’re with your baby can be tricky. Here is what to look for so your baby enjoys the meal as much as you do!

  • Baby-friendly Menu: First of all, make sure that the restaurant offers baby-friendly food. This could mean having a baby menu or having the possibility to order things off the menu, such as fresh vegetables or fruit purees.

  • Baby Service Station: If there’s no baby menu or baby-friendly alternatives to the items on the menu, we suggest opting for a restaurant with a baby service station, a designated area with necessary tools to prepare or heat baby’s food. The area usually has a kettle, bottle warmer, reusable bibs, and more.

  • Easy to get in and out: in choosing a restaurant, we recommend checking that the location is easy to reach. Narrow staircases or inaccessible terrain are even more difficult to navigate when you’re bringing a stroller with you.

  • Spacious Restaurants: reserving a table, make sure that the restaurant is spacious enough for baby’s equipment, such as their stroller. If not, we suggest asking the restaurant staff if there’s an area where you could safely leave your baby stroller.
Otherwise you could bring a baby carrier, which is lighter and less bulky.

  • Baby-friendly Seating & Table: some restaurants, other than the usual high chairs, also have smaller tables and chairs for children. How adorable!

  • Baby-friendly Restrooms: we suggest checking that the restrooms are baby-friendly. This means having a changing station or at least a clean space where you can lay your foldable changing mat.
If you have a toddler, go for restaurants with smaller facilities, designed for little ones!

  • Baby-friendly Activities: to avoid your baby getting too bored at the dining table, we suggest checking that the restaurants offer baby-friendly activities, such as colouring place mats, board games or an outdoor playground!
