The Top 10 Things to Bring When Travelling With Your Baby

Travelling with your baby for the first time can be stressful if you’re not prepared. We’re here to make sure you have all the essentials for a safe and smooth trip!

Following are the top 10 things to bring with you when travelling with your baby.

top 10 things to bring when travelling with baby

1. A Foldable or Umbrella Stroller

We suggest bringing a foldable or umbrella stroller, as their smaller size and weight make them perfect for travelling. Having a stroller that can be folded using only one hand is also great to have when going through customs: you are going to be required to lay the stroller on the conveyor belts for x-ray inspection.

If you’re travelling via car, we suggest going for a stroller that can be converted to a car seat instead. This means having less heavy and bulky equipment to bring with you!

2. Baby’s Health Records

We recommend bringing a copy of baby’s health records with you, just in case. In the same folder, write down the local emergency numbers and the nearest hospitals, as well as information about local pediatricians.

3. Emergency Kit

The essential items that we recommend you bringing are:

  • Thermometer
  • Disinfectants or Antibiotic Cream (for small cuts)
  • Band-aids
  • Tweezers and Baby Nail Scissors
  • Baby Paracetamol and Tylenol
  • Rehydration fluid (in case of diarrhea)
  • Baby’s Vitamins and other prescriptions

This is also because some of the most common over-the-counter medications can require prescriptions in foreign countries.

4. Changing Mat

This way you’ll be able to change your baby anywhere, anytime! You never know if you’re actually going to find clean changing stations in public restrooms or service stations, so it’s better to be prepared!

Read here for more information on Changing Stations and the essential items to bring with you.

We suggest getting a non-bulky, foldable and wipeable changing mat for the most hassle-free experience. Just make sure to place it on a stable support, to avoid incidents.

5. Baby Carrier

A nice alternative to a stroller is a baby carrier, which will keep your baby even closer to you when travelling. Although, baby carriers are more suitable for trips that won’t require a lot of walking!

6. Portable Bottle Warmer

If your baby is on formula, this is a life saver! We recommend getting battery-powered ones, as you won’t always be able to find electrical outlets so easily while on the road.

But remember to always bring a healthy snack for baby with you, just in case.

7. Just-in-Case Baby Clothing

Apart from the essentials (onesies, footies and socks, hoodies, etc.), bringing these garments for baby will make your life much easier:

  • A Snug Jacket
  • A Raincoat
  • A Warming Hat

And if you’re going to warmer locations:

  • Comfy swimsuits
  • Swim diapers
  • Sunglasses

No matter the weather, we always recommend bringing a warm and soft blanket, as well as baby sunscreen. You’re probably going to spend a lot of time outdoors, baby’s skin needs to be protected whether it’s sunny or cloudy!

8. Pacifier clip

We all know how choosy babies can get with their loved pacifiers! Losing it would be such a hassle, so consider clipping baby’s favourite binky to their clothes when travelling.

Choose from one of our cute designs below. They’re all zero waste products!

Make sure to ask your hotel for a water boiler when booking for a room, so you’re able to sterilize your baby’s binky once you get back to your hotel room!

9. Travel Eating Essentials

The best snack to bring for your baby when travelling is the most easy to eat on-the-go. Other than healthy snack, remember to also bring all the equipment needed to feed your baby while you’re on the road:

  • Baby’s Cutlery
  • A super soft bib
  • Fragrance and alcohol-free wipes
  • An extra bag for baby’s trash

10. Baby’s Favourite Toy

To keep your baby entertained during the trip, we recommend bringing their favourite toy with you. Consider safely storing it in a cute and practical toy sack, to keep your luggage more organized.

Our toy sacks can even double purpose as laundry bags, for an organized suitcase even on your return trip. Don’t worry, it’s 100% made out of organic cotton, so you can throw it in the washer along with the rest of your baby’s clothes!
